Yankees 5, Brewers 3: Masahiro Tanaka was solid through 6 1/3 innings to stay perfect on the season as visiting New York opened the three-game series with a win.

Tanaka (5-0) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven to run his personal winning streak to 33 games dating back to 2012, when he was a star in Japan. Yangervis Solarte had a three-run homer to pace the offense for the Yankees, who have won three straight following a 1-5 swoon.

Carlos Gomez was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored and Mark Reynolds had a ninth-inning solo shot to lead Milwaukee. Starter Yovani Gallardo (2-2) gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings in his shortest start of the year.

Tanaka walked the first man he faced but retired 15 of the next 17 hitters. The Yankees seized control in the fourth, when Solarte followed a walk and a single with a three-run drive to right off Gallardo, and Brian Roberts added a run-scoring double for a 4-0 advantage.

Gomez and Gennett began the sixth with consecutive doubles to get Milwaukee on the board and Jonathan Lucroy added a run-scoring base hit to make it 4-2. Adam Warren took over for Tanaka in the seventh and wiggled out of trouble before the Yankees added an insurance run in the eighth and David Robertson got past the Reynolds blast to pick up his sixth save.
