Nationals 5, Marlins 1: Stephen Strasburg struck out seven over six scoreless innings and Asdrubal Cabrera hit a three-run double as Washington shut down visiting Miami.

Strasburg (14-11) allowed two hits and a walk, running his scoreless streak to 20 innings over his last three starts. Denard Span went 2-for-3 and scored a run and Jayson Werth and Wilson Ramos added two hits apiece for the Nationals.

Marlins right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (6-14) gave up two runs and eight hits over seven innings to lose his eighth straight decision and fall to 1-10 since the All-Star break. Jeff Mathis doubled and Casey McGehee had a pair of singles for Miami.

The Nationals opened the scoring in the second when Bryce Harper raced home from third on Strasburg's sacrifice bunt and made it 2-0 on Adam LaRoche's RBI groundout in the fifth. They broke it open when Cabrera laced a three-run double in the eighth.

Strasburg sat down seven straight before Mathis doubled with one out in the third and retired eight of the last nine batters he faced. The Marlins broke up the shutout in the ninth against Drew Storen as McGehee and Justin Bour delivered one-out singles, and first baseman Ryan Zimmerman and third baseman Anthony Rendon made errors to prolong the inning.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Miami has scored two or fewer runs in Eovaldi's last four starts and 11 of his last 14. … Span tied Cristian Guzman's Nationals record for hits in a season (183) and set the club mark for multi-hit games (58). … Strasburg (242) took over the National League strikeout lead, passing Clayton Kershaw (239) and Johnny Cueto (235), who is scheduled to start Sunday for Cincinnati.
