Phillies 3, Marlins 1 (10): Cody Asche ripped a two-run homer in the 10th inning as host Philadelphia edged Miami in the opener of their three-game series.

Asche belted a 2-2 pitch from Dan Jennings (0-2) well over the right-field wall for the first walk-off homer of his career. Ben Revere singled to center field with one out and Asche followed with his 10th blast of the season to make a winner of Jake Diekman (5-4), who worked a scoreless top of the 10th.

Neither starting pitcher factored in the decision despite allowing one run over seven innings. Philadelphia left-hander Cole Hamels gave up nine hits and a walk while striking out six, while Miami's Henderson Alvarez yielded seven hits and struck out four without a walk.

The Marlins got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in the sixth behind singles from John Baker, Ed Lucas and Adeiny Hechavarria. Chase Utley doubled with one out in the Phillies' half of the inning, took third on an error and came home on a wild pitch by Alvarez.

Miami's Mike Dunn walked two batters in the eighth before A.J. Ramos came on and induced a 6-4-3 double play from Marlon Byrd to escape the jam. Baker, Lucas and Hechavarria finished with two hits apiece for the Marlins, while Asche, Utley and Domonic Brown did the same for the Phillies.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Marlins RF Giancarlo Stanton, who was hit in the face by a pitch and left Thursday's game on a stretcher, returned to Miami on Friday. His injuries required stitches for his facial lacerations and some plastic surgery, and he also lost some teeth. However, it appears as if Stanton will not require major surgery. ... Marlins CF Marcell Ozuna went 1-for-4, ending his streak of four straight games with a home run. ... Asche is the fifth Phillies player to hit a walk-off homer in 2014.
