Brewers 4, Marlins 2: Ryan Braun and Matt Clark each homered as Milwaukee won for the second straight night in a game marred by a pitch that hit Miami All-Star Giancarlo Stanton in the face during the fifth inning.

Stanton, the National League leader in homers with 37, went down after taking a high fastball from Milwaukee starter Mike Fiers (6-2) off the left cheek as he tried to check his swing. The Marlins announced the 24-year-old slugger suffered multiple facial fractures and dental damage.

Carlos Gomez went 2-for-2 with a run scored for Milwaukee and was hit by a pitch in the sixth from reliever Anthony DeSclafani, who was ejected. Francisco Rodriguez notched his 41st save in the ninth as the Brewers remained 1 1/2 games behind Pittsburgh in the race for the NL’s second wild card while Miami dropped 5 1/2 back.

Fiers allowed three hits over five scoreless innings and struck out eight, including his last batter when Reed Johnson was called out for swinging at a pitch that hit him on the hand. Benches cleared following that pitch before Miami third baseman Casey McGehee and manager Mike Redmond were ejected for arguing with umpires.

Braun hit his 19th homer in the second, Aramis Ramirez lined an RBI ground-rule double in the third and Clark’s second homer in two games highlighted a two-run fourth for the Brewers. Nathan Eovaldi (6-11) permitted four runs over four frames for the loss and Marcell Ozuna tied the club record with a homer in his fourth straight game for the Marlins.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Braun’s homer was the 230th of his career, tying Prince Fielder for second in club history behind Hall of Famer Robin Yount (251). … Miami LF Christian Yelich went 0-for-4 and saw his 13-game hitting streak come to an end. … Ozuna hit his 23rd homer, a two-run blast in the eighth, and was the first Miami player to hit a home run in four straight games since Stanton accomplished the feat in August of 2011.
