Blue Jays 4, Royals 0: Mark Buehrle notched his major league-leading 10th victory and Edwin Encarnacion belted his 19th homer as host Toronto defeated Kansas City to earn a split of the four-game series.

Buehrle (10-1) allowed six hits, one walk and struck out three over eight scoreless innings before Aaron Loup finished the shutout in the ninth. Encarnacion also had a double to go along with his two-run blast while Dioner Navarro hit a solo homer for the Blue Jays, who have won 16 of their last 20 contests.

Alcides Escobar recorded a double and a single for the Royals, who left one runner on base in each of the first seven innings. Kansas City starter Jeremy Guthrie (2-5) extended his winless streak to 10 starts with a hard-luck loss, yielding two runs on eight hits with five strikeouts over seven innings.

The Blue Jays left the bases loaded in the first inning, but Navarro gave them the lead with his third homer over the right-field wall with one out in the second. Juan Francisco’s liner was misplayed by right fielder Norichika Aoki into a double, leading off the fourth, and he later scored on Anthony Gose’s fielder’s choice.

Eric Hosmer led off the sixth with a double for the Royals, but was thrown out at third by shortstop Jose Reyes on Billy Butler’s grounder. Adam Lind singled with one out in the eighth before Encarnacion, who homered 16 times in May, lined a pitch by reliever Aaron Crow over the left-field fence.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Lind was 2-for-4 and has registered at least two hits in nine of his last 14 starts. … Kansas City recalled 3B Mike Moustakas and activated LHP Francisley Bueno while placing 3B Danny Valencia (hand) on the 15-day disabled list and optioning RHP Aaron Brooks to Triple-A Omaha. … The Blue Jays have homered 26 times in their last 15 games.
