Brewers 6, Dodgers 3: Lyle Overbay delivered a go-ahead, three-run double in the eighth inning as visiting Milwaukee stormed back to take the series opener from Los Angeles.

Scooter Gennett and Khris Davis each added an RBI during the five-run eighth to help Milwaukee stay two games clear of the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Central. Brandon Kintzler (2-3) ended up with the win in relief and Will Smith allowed a run in the eighth before Francisco Rodriguez took care of the ninth for his 37th save.

Zack Greinke walked five and allowed two hits in five scoreless frames and Pedro Baez worked two hitless innings before Jamey Wright (4-3) came on in the eighth for the Dodgers and was charged with all five runs. Dee Gordon stole two bases and scored twice while Yasiel Puig drove in two runs and scored for Los Angeles, which maintained its 5 1/2-game lead over San Francisco in the NL West.

Gordon manufactured a run in the first inning by reaching on an infield single, stealing second, taking third on Lucroy’s throwing error and scoring on Puig’s single to left-center. The All-Star speedster turned a similar trick in the fifth, beating out a fielder’s choice before stealing second and coming in on Puig’s single to center.

The Brewers managed two hits through the first 7 1/3 innings but doubled that total in four consecutive at-bats, capped by Gennett’s RBI single and Davis’ tying double. Mark Reynolds was intentionally walked to load the bases before Brandon League came on and struck out a batter but could not get Overbay, who came on as a pinch hitter and sliced a double into the corner in left to clear the bases.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
The Dodgers placed LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu (glute strain) on the 15-day disabled list and recalled RHP Baez. … Los Angeles LHP Paul Maholm underwent surgery Friday to repair the ACL and medial meniscus in his right knee. … Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson allowed two runs and six hits in six innings.
