Astros 10, Mariners 1: Chris Carter hit his 37th homer and Dallas Keuchel struck out eight in as many innings as host Houston trounced Seattle.

Alex Presley, Matt Dominguez, Carlos Corporan and Jake Marisnick also went deep for the Astros, who snapped their four-game losing streak. Keuchel (12-9) allowed one runs and seven hits in improving to 3-1 against the Mariners this season.

Chris Young (12-9) served up four of the homers while allowing seven runs and eight hits in three-plus innings. The loss dropped Seattle one-half game behind Kansas City for the American League’s second wild card.

Carter and Presley each hit two-run homers in the first inning to begin the onslaught. Jose Altuve had a run-scoring single in the second before Seattle got on the board in the third on Robinson Cano’s RBI base hit to right.

Dominguez and Corporan hit back-to-back blasts to start the fourth and end Young’s outing. Marisnick capped Houston’s power surge with a three-run shot in the seventh.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Altuve went 2-for-4 to raise his major league-best average to .344. … All seven of Seattle’s hits were singles. … Astros LHP Darin Downs (oblique) likely is done for the season after being injured in Friday’s game.
