Angels 11, Astros 3: Kole Calhoun collected three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs as host Los Angeles plated seven in the fifth inning to extend its season-high winning streak to nine games.

David Freese belted a two-run homer, Mike Trout ripped an RBI triple and double and Howie Kendrick also plated a pair as the Angels moved 11 games ahead of second-place Oakland in the American League West with 15 to play. C.J. Wilson (12-9) benefited from the offense to pick up his second straight victory as Los Angeles won its nine straight for the first time since Aug. 18-27, 2004.

Dexter Fowler slapped an RBI double and Jake Marisnick and Robbie Grossman each had a run-scoring single for the Astros, who fell for just the third time in 11 contests. Jose Altuve collected two hits to increase his career-high total to 202, which is eight shy of Craig Biggio's franchise record.

After Fowler gave Houston a 3-0 lead in the fourth, Trout trimmed the deficit with a double to center in the bottom of the inning before coming around to score on an error. Another miscue allowed the Angels to forge a tie before Calhoun's two-run single off Brett Oberholtzer (5-11) and Trout's 25th career triple gave Los Angeles a 6-3 lead.

Trout scored on Albert Pujols' sacrifice fly before Freese jumped on a 1-2 fastball from Jorge De Leon for his eighth homer to cap the lopsided inning. Wilson allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings before four relievers wrapped it up.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles has scored at least seven runs in eight consecutive contests, matching the longest such streak in franchise history while becoming the first team in the majors to do so since Texas in 2003. ... Trout became the first member of the Angels to record at least 100 RBIs and 100 runs scored in the same season since Vladimir Guerrero in 2004. ... Oberholtzer permitted six runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings to take the loss.
