Astros 8, Angels 3: Jose Altuve homered among four hits as host Houston halted Los Angeles’ six-game winning streak.

Robbie Grossman had three hits for the Astros, who had 15 overall in Tom Lawless' first game as interim manager after the firing of Bo Porter. Jason Castro had two hits and two RBIs, Dexter Fowler had two hits and scored twice and Brad Peacock (4-8) allowed just three runs (two earned) and four hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Gordon Beckham went 3-for-3 for the first-place Angels, who remained 4 1/2 games ahead of the Oakland Athletics in the American League West. C.J. Wilson (10-9) lasted just 3 1/3 innings and allowed five runs and eight hits.

The Astros got going with three runs in the first inning on run-scoring singles by Fowler and Chris Carter and Castro’s sacrifice fly. Houston made it 4-0 on Altuve’s homer in the third and Grossman stroked an RBI double in the fourth.

Castro’s run-scoring double in the fifth made it 6-0 and Jake Marisnick added a sacrifice fly later in the inning. The Angels were within 7-3 after Beckham’s RBI double capped a two-run seventh before Altuve finished his assault by lining an RBI double in the eighth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Los Angeles trio of CF Mike Trout, 1B Albert Pujols and LF Josh Hamilton were a combined 0-for-12. … Altuve has back-to-back four-hit outings and five overall on the season and also stole his 50th base. … Angels SS Erick Aybar went 1-for-4 with a run scored to extend his hitting streak to 17 games.
