Rockies 5, Royals 2:
Matt McBride belted his first career grand slam and Jorge De La Rosa cruised through eight innings as host Colorado stunned Kansas City.

McBride, who was making his second start of the season, gave the Rockies the lead in the sixth with his third career home run. De La Rosa (13-8) took care of the rest, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three to pick up back-to-back wins, and LaTroy Hawkins worked the ninth for his 19th save.

Alex Gordon homered for the Royals, who had a three-game winning streak come to an end. Danny Duffy (8-11) was charged with five runs - one earned - and five hits in seven innings as Kansas City’s lead in the American League Central slipped to one game over Detroit.

Kansas City took the lead on Gordon’s blast leading off the second and made it 2-0 in the fourth on Erik Kratz’s sacrifice fly. Nolan Arenado tripled and scored on Wilin Rosario’s single in the fourth to cut the deficit in half.

Duffy retired the first two batters in the sixth before an error by third baseman Christian Colon allowed Arenado to reach. A single and a walk loaded the bases for McBride, who lined a first-pitch fastball into the front row in left to put the Rockies in front.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
McBride was recalled before Tuesday’s game after spending the entire 2013 season and all of 2014 in the minors. He played in 31 games for Colorado in 2012. … Royals C Salvador Perez was scratched from the lineup due to right knee discomfort. … Colon made a rare start at third and was elevated to the leadoff spot in the order, from where he went 1-for-3 with a walk.
