Tigers 7, Rangers 2: Ian Kinsler went 3-for-4 and scored three times and Anibal Sanchez tossed seven strong innings as Detroit defeated visiting Texas to halt a four-game losing streak.

Austin Jackson and Andrew Romine hit homers and Torii Hunter drove in two runs for the Tigers. All three of Kinsler’s hits were doubles, including one that knocked in a run in the fifth inning.

Sanchez (2-2) allowed two runs and five hits and didn’t walk a batter while beating the Rangers for the first time in four career decisions. Texas starter Scott Baker (0-1) allowed six runs and eight hits in six innings.

Mitch Moreland stroked a two-run double to deep left-center field in the second to stake Texas to an early lead before Jackson delivered a tying two-run shot to left in the bottom of the inning. Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera hit consecutive doubles off Baker to open the third inning and two more runs crossed in the fifth on Kinsler’s double and Hunter’s fielder’s choice.

The light-hitting Romine ended a streak of 22 consecutive hitless at-bats by hitting his first career homer in the sixth, a shot that caromed off the right-field foul pole. Hunter plated Kinsler with a grounder in the seventh to make it a five-run margin.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas activated INF Donnie Murphy (neck) off the disabled list to fill the roster opening of 1B Prince Fielder, who will undergo neck surgery on Tuesday that will likely end his season. … Detroit LHP Robbie Ray was optioned to Triple-A Toledo and RHP Corey Knebel was recalled from the same club. … Rangers OF Daniel Robertson suffered three small fractures of his left orbital bone in his collision with RF Alex Rios during Thursday’s game but will likely avoid a stint on the disabled list.
