Dustin Ackley hit a two-run homer to right in the third inning and Robinson Cano drilled a run-scoring double later in the frame to give Seattle a 4-1 edge.
Cleveland struck for three in the bottom of the third, the first two coming on Kipnis’ two-run homer to right-center field before Brantley laced a triple later in the inning and scored on Santana’s sacrifice fly. Indians starter Zach McAllister allowed four runs and eight hits in 3 1/3 frames, while Seattle’s Chris Young gave up four runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings.
