Rajai Davis and Ian Kinsler hit back-to-back solo homers in the seventh inning while Victor Martinez also went deep and added an RBI single for the Tigers, who have won 13 of their last 18 games at Cleveland. Joe Nathan (4-2) picked up the win after blowing a save opportunity and Phil Coke struck out three in the 10th for his first save of the year.

Martinez opened the scoring in the second with a leadoff homer, but Cleveland pulled even in the bottom of the inning as Lonnie Chisenhall hit a two-out double and scored on Detroit second baseman Kinsler's error. The Indians moved ahead on Santana's one-out solo blast in the fourth before the Tigers answered two frames later when Miguel Cabrera led off with a double and scored on Martinez's single.

Davis and Kinsler launched one-out homers in the seventh, but Asdrubal Cabrera delivered an RBI double in the eighth and Bourn capped a string of three consecutive two-out singles in the ninth to plate David Murphy and knot the contest. Kinsler began the 10th with a single off Cody Allen (3-2) and advanced on a sacrifice before scoring on Miguel Cabrera's double to center.
