Tigers 6, Indians 4: Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez homered and Rick Porcello outdueled Corey Kluber as visiting Detroit claimed the opener of the three-game series.

Porcello (9-4) snapped a three-start winless streak and improved to 9-3 all-time against Cleveland, allowing six hits and a walk over six scoreless frames. J.D. Martinez continued his red-hot stretch, going 3-for-4 and blasting a three-run homer for his fourth long ball in five games.

Kluber (6-5) allowed two runs and eight hits over seven innings, his only mistake coming on a first-pitch sinker that Victor Martinez launched to right in the fourth. Asdrubal Cabrera and Carlos Santana hit back-to-back homers in the four-run eighth inning for the Indians.

Victor Martinez put the Tigers on top 2-0 in the fourth with his 18th homer, and Porcello made it stand up until J.D. Martinez's blast broke it open in the eighth. Cabrera's three-run homer to left broke up the shutout in the bottom of the frame, and Santana followed with his 10th of the year to whip the home crowd into a frenzy.

The Tigers answered when Rajai Davis led off the ninth with a double and scored on Ian Kinsler's RBI double for some insurance. Cleveland got the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the inning before Joe Nathan struck out Michael Bourn for his 15th save.
