Indians 3, Rangers 2: David Murphy drove in a run and recorded two hits as visiting Cleveland edged Texas.

Lonnie Chisenhall added two hits and scored twice while Asdrubal Cabrera and Ryan Raburn each delivered RBI singles for the Indians, who have won eight of their last nine games. Justin Masterson (4-4) allowed two runs on five hits and a pair of walks in 5 2/3 innings to pick up his second straight win for Cleveland.

Rangers starter Joe Saunders (0-2) was charged with three runs – two earned – on seven hits and four walks without notching a strikeout in 5 1/3 innings. Alex Rios tripled in a run and scored for Texas, which dropped back below .500 at 31-32.

The Rangers struck first when they loaded the bases on two singles and a walk in the fourth before Rios crossed on a wild pitch with two outs. The Indians got that run back in the fifth on Cabrera’s bases-loaded single and grabbed the lead in the sixth when Raburn greeted right-hander Shawn Tolleson with an RBI single to center.

Murphy plated Chisenhall with a sacrifice fly later in the sixth to make it a two-run lead, but Rios followed Adrian Beltre’s double with a triple in the bottom of the frame to tighten the gap. Bryan Shaw kept Texas scoreless in the seventh and eighth before Cody Allen worked a perfect ninth for his sixth save.
