Giants 5, Cubs 0: Tim Lincecum and George Kontos combined to take a no-hit bid into the seventh inning and Pablo Sandoval ripped a run-scoring single to extend his streak to eight contests with at least one RBI as host San Francisco won the rubber match of the three-game series.

Four more relievers finished the two-hitter for the Giants, who have outscored their foes 34-13 en route to winning six of their last seven games. Former Cub Tyler Colvin belted a run-scoring double in the sixth and Hector Sanchez added a two-run double to highlight a three-run seventh.

Lincecum exited with a blister forming on his middle finger after tossing five innings, but saw his pitch count elevated right out of the gate as 32 of his 96 tosses came in the first. Kontos (1-0) relieved the two-time National League Cy Young Award winner and struck out two of the four batters he faced before John Baker greeted Jeremy Affeldt with a one-out single in the seventh to end the no-hit bid.

Jean Machi bridged the gap to Joaquin Arias, who permitted Anthony Rizzo's single in the eighth before Javier Lopez recorded the final two outs in the ninth.

San Francisco snapped a scoreless deadlock in the sixth as Angel Pagan led off the frame with a double and advanced to third on Buster Posey's flyout to center. James Russell relieved starter Edwin Jackson (3-5) and saw Sandoval deposit his 2-2 fastball into center to open the scoring. Colvin ripped a 2-0 fastball to left to plate Hunter Pence to send the Giants on their way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Sandoval, who went 2-for-3 to increase his hitting streak to eight contests, became the first San Francisco player to drive in a run in eight straight games since J.T. Snow in 2003. ... Jackson permitted two runs on four hits and struck out nine in 5 1/3 innings to take the hard-luck loss. ... Giants RHP Matt Cain, who was nursing a strained right hamstring, threw a bullpen session prior to the game without issue and is on pace to make his scheduled start Saturday.
