Giants 4, Cubs 0: Tim Hudson tossed seven shutout innings and Buster Posey drove in two runs as San Francisco blanked visiting Chicago.

Angel Pagan, Hunter Pence and Michael Morse had two hits apiece for the Giants, who own the majors’ best record at 33-19 after posting their fifth win in their last six games. Hudson (5-2) struck out five and allowed six hits with no walks while lowering his ERA to 1.92.

The Giants plated two runs in the first inning on Posey’s sacrifice fly and Morse’s RBI single off Jake Arrieta (1-1), who yielded four runs and struck out six over six frames. Arrieta matched his season high with 94 pitches for the Cubs, who saw their four-game winning streak in San Francisco come to an end.

Ehire Adrianza snapped an 0-for-12 slump with a leadoff single in the fifth and later scored on Posey’s sacrifice fly, and Pablo Sandoval followed with an RBI single to put the Giants ahead 4-0. Sandoval, who went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to seven games, has driven in at least one run in a career-high seven straight contests.

Chicago had two runners on with one out in the fourth, but Hudson retired Luis Valbuena and Welington Castillo to end the threat. The Cubs fell to 3-3 on their 10-game road trip and remained winless in 18 games when scoring two runs or fewer.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Cubs placed LHP Wesley Wright on the paternity leave list and recalled RHP Blake Parker from Triple-A Iowa. … San Francisco, which has won all five of Hudson’s starts at home this season, improved to 25-5 when scoring first. … Hudson has tossed at least seven innings in eight of his 10 starts.
