Brewers 4, Cubs 3: Jean Segura had three hits and two RBIs and Kyle Lohse worked seven strong innings as visiting Milwaukee took advantage of Chicago's miscues to claim the opener of a three-game set.

Jonathan Lucroy had a run-scoring single and scored a run for the Brewers, who are 13-5 in their last 18 games at Wrigley Field. Lohse (5-1) allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out two, retiring the final 13 men he faced.

Darwin Barney smacked a two-run homer and Junior Lake had a solo shot to lead the Cubs, losers of 10 of 12. Jeff Samardzija (0-4) gave up four runs - two earned - in a season-low five innings as his victory drought extended to 15 straight starts.

Samardzija, who entered second in the majors among starters with a 1.45 ERA, was hurt by two errors and a wild pitch in a two-run Milwaukee first. A double, a walk and a passed ball in the second set up Segura's base hit to center that scored two more runs and made it 4-0.

After Nate Schierholtz singled with one out in the home half of the second, Barney parked one in the first row of the left-field stands, and Lake hit one to the same spot to get the Cubs within a run in the third. Lohse dominated for the remainder of his start, Will Smith cruised through the eighth and Francisco Rodriguez worked around a leadoff single in the ninth to pick up his league-leading 17th save.
