Twins 6, White Sox 5:
Joe Mauer delivered a pair of RBI singles and Josh Willingham drove in two runs as Minnesota polished off a four-game sweep of visiting Chicago.

Sam Fuld scored twice and drove in a run while Brian Dozier singled in a run and scored for the Twins (36-38), who pulled within two games of .500. Phil Hughes (8-3) earned the win despite being knocked around for five runs in as many innings, and Anthony Swarzak and Casey Fien combined for three perfect innings of relief before Jared Burton struck out two in the ninth for his first save.

John Danks (6-6) started for the White Sox and surrendered six runs on 10 hits and four walks in five innings. Gordon Beckham and Jose Abreu each drove in two and Conor Gillaspie added an RBI in a five-run third inning as Chicago fell to 4-11 in its last 15 games and suffered a four-game sweep at the hands of the Twins for the first time since 1994.

Danks started off shaky with a pair of walks and a wild pitch that led to a run on Willingham’s RBI groundout in the first before Minnesota tacked on two more runs in the second on Fuld’s RBI double to right and Mauer’s single up the middle. The White Sox got all that back and more in the third, loading the bases on two singles and a walk before Beckham doubled in two, Abreu sent a two-run single to center and Gillaspie singled to right.

The Twins recovered with a three-run fourth as Fuld drew a one-out walk and Danny Santana followed with an infield single. Dozier plated Fuld with a single, Mauer singled in the tying run and Willingham’s sacrifice fly scored Dozier with the go-ahead run.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire was ejected in the third inning for arguing balls and strikes. … Burton was filling in for LHP Glen Perkins, who struggled in save situations in each of the last two days and was being rested. … The Twins get Monday off before beginning a road trip at the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday while the White Sox continue their trip at Baltimore on Monday.
