White Sox 7, Indians 3: Jose Abreu hit two home runs for the second time in the last three days as host Chicago opened a four-game series by defeating Cleveland.

Abreu, a 27-year-old rookie from Cuba, hit his first two career homers in Tuesday's win over the Colorado Rockies and followed up that effort with two more shots in this one, taking the major league lead with 14 RBIs in the process. Alexei Ramirez also homered for the White Sox, who had lost five of their previous seven games.

Ramirez went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs while Adam Eaton had two hits in support of John Danks (1-0), who allowed three runs over six innings. Cleveland starter Danny Salazar (0-1) tied his career high with 10 strikeouts in just 3 2/3 innings, yielding five runs, six hits and a pair of walks.

Abreu's first home run was a monster shot to center field which drew Chicago within 2-1 in the second inning and he crushed a line-drive shot off Josh Outman in the fifth to put the White Sox ahead 6-3. In between, the big blow for Chicago was Ramirez's two-run double in the fourth that snapped a 3-3 tie.

Abreu plated an insurance run in the seventh with a run-scoring groundout and the White Sox relievers shut the door. Daniel Webb retired all six hitters he faced in relief of Danks before Matt Lindstrom retired the side in order in the ninth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Abreu has 12 career hits, eight of which have gone for extra bases. ... The Indians won 17 of 19 meetings with the White Sox last season, including the final 14. ... Chicago OF Avisail Garcia tore the labrum in his left shoulder trying to make a diving catch Wednesday and will miss the rest of the season. White Sox GM Rick Hahn described Garcia as "crushed."
