Mariners 7, Braves 3: Logan Morrison belted a three-run homer to help Seattle complete an abbreviated two-game sweep and send Atlanta home without a victory on its eight-game road trip.

Dustin Ackley also went deep to lead off the third inning and scored twice for the Mariners, who trail Toronto by one game for the American League's second wild-card spot. Kyle Seager had an RBI single among his three hits, Kendrys Morales had a run-scoring base hit and Chris Young (10-6) worked five innings to pick up the win.

Freddie Freeman had a two-run double and Tommy La Stella drew a bases-loaded walk in the third inning for the Braves, who fell four games behind first-place Washington in the National League East. Atlanta mustered only 18 runs while getting swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego and Seattle.

With the Braves enjoying a 3-1 lead, Ackley trimmed the deficit with his seventh homer and Morrison gave the Mariners a two-run advantage with another blast later in the third. Morrison extended his hitting streak to seven games by depositing an 0-1 fastball from All-Star Julio Teheran (10-8) over the wall in right for his sixth homer - and first since July 11.

Robinson Cano, who ripped two doubles, scored on Chris Taylor's sacrifice fly in the fifth and came around to score on Morales' RBI single in the seventh. Young allowed three runs on seven hits before five relievers kept Atlanta off the scoreboard.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Young reached double digits in wins for the first time since posting 11 victories with San Diego in 2006. ... Teheran permitted six runs on nine hits in six innings to take the loss. ... Atlanta, which lost eight in a row for the first time since April 23-May 4, 2010, looks to rebound when it opens a 10-game homestand on Friday with a three-game set versus the Nationals. Seattle continues its nine-game homestand by beginning a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox on Friday.
