Braves 3, Mets 1: Chris Johnson’s three-run double in the first and Julio Teheran’s seven strong innings lifted host Atlanta to its seventh straight victory.

Teheran (8-5) allowed one run on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts as the Braves capped a three-game sweep of the struggling Mets and stayed one-half game ahead of Washington in the National League East. Johnson and Andrelton Simmons collected two hits apiece while B.J. Upton went 1-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to nine games.

Eric Young Jr. finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored for New York, which has dropped seven of its last eight contests. Jacob deGrom (1-5) did not allow a run after the three-run first, giving up six hits with eight strikeouts in five innings, and Juan Lagares added two hits.

DeGrom loaded the bases on a single and two walks to start the first but was one strike away from getting out of the jam before Johnson’s double down the left-field line plated all three runners. Teheran retired the first nine batters he faced before Young led off the fourth with a single and scored later in the frame on Curtis Granderson’s sacrifice fly to left.

Teheran, who has posted a 1.86 ERA with five walks and 30 strikeouts in his last four contests, struck out Eric Campbell with two on to end the sixth and fanned Kirk Nieuwenhuis with one on to conclude the seventh. Anthony Varvaro pitched around a hit in a scoreless eighth and Jordan Walden worked a perfect ninth for his third save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Young raised his average to .286 in road games but is batting .185 at home. … Teheran escaped injury in the fourth, when Campbell’s liner hit his right calf. … Atlanta closer Craig Kimbrel was unavailable after pitching each of the last three days and four of the past five.
