Braves 3, Marlins 2: Julio Teheran held host Miami to two runs in 7 1/3 innings and helped his cause with two hits as Atlanta snapped a four-game losing streak.

Teheran (5-3) allowed two runs on five hits with one walk and five strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings, winning his third consecutive start, and went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a run scored. Jason Heyward added two hits, an RBI and a run scored, and Craig Kimbrel pitched the ninth for his 14th save, getting Garrett Jones to fly out to deep right-center to end the game.

Giancarlo Stanton smashed his National League-leading 16th homer for the Marlins, who fell to 20-9 at home and dropped one game behind the first-place Braves in the NL East. Adeiny Hechavarria collected two hits and Miami starter Tom Koehler (4-5) surrendered three runs on seven hits in seven innings.

Atlanta surged ahead in the seventh thanks in part to Teheran, who doubled down the right-field line to lead off the frame and scored on Heyward’s triple to left-center. Heyward raced home on B.J. Upton’s line-drive sacrifice fly to left to put the Braves ahead 3-2.

Stanton opened the scoring with a 450-foot blast to dead center in the first, his two-run shot staking Miami to a 2-0 lead. Teheran settled down after that, retiring 12 in a row at one point, and the Braves pulled within 2-1 on Chris Johnson’s two-strike single to left in the sixth, scoring Justin Upton.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Stanton has 51 RBIs, becoming the first Miami player to reach 50 RBIs before June 1. … Stanton’s homer represents the only two runs Teheran has allowed in his past 19 1/3 innings. … Kimbrel has 153 career saves, one away from John Smoltz's franchise record.
