Braves 5, Brewers 4: Ryan Doumit’s two-run pinch-hit single highlighted a wild seventh inning as host Atlanta rallied to take three out of four from struggling Milwaukee.

The bottom of the seventh lasted 46 minutes, featuring two replay review delays lasting 15 minutes, a double that rolled into short left field and three Atlanta runs. Alex Wood (4-5) earned the victory with a scoreless top of the seventh and Craig Kimbrel struck out the side in the ninth for his 12th save as the Braves improved to 4-1 in their past five contests.

Brandon Kintzler (1-2) allowed one run on one hit in the seventh after starter Matt Garza gave up four runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings. Jean Segura finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and Jonathan Lucroy added two hits and two RBIs, but the Brewers lost Ryan Braun to tightness in his side in the fourth en route to losing for the fifth time in six games.

Atlanta cut its deficit to 4-2 in the sixth on B.J. Upton’s fourth homer of the season, and when Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke pulled Garza with one out in the seventh, reliever Zach Duke mistakenly came out of the bullpen before Kintzler. The umpires met to determine if Duke had officially entered the game - it was ruled he had not - and Laird greeted Kintzler with a liner off third baseman Mark Reynolds’ glove that scored Chris Johnson and brought Atlanta within 4-3.

Will Smith relieved Kintzler but Doumit lined a single to center, scoring Dan Uggla and Laird to put the Braves ahead. It spoiled a great start by Milwaukee with Lucroy driving in Segura on a first-inning double and a third-inning single as the Brewers jumped ahead 2-0, then extended their lead to 4-1 on Logan Schafer’s squeeze bunt in the fourth and Khris Davis’ RBI single in the sixth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jason Heyward finished with two hits, driving in Atlanta’s first run with a third-inning single and reaching on a seventh-inning infield single after replay reserved an original out call on Doumit at second base. … Atlanta starter Aaron Harang gave up four runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings. … There were four replay reviews in the game.
