Mariners 8, Red Sox 6: Dustin Ackley tripled in a run and scored three times as Seattle came from behind for the third straight day to polish off a three-game sweep in Boston.

Logan Morrison added two hits and an RBI, Kyle Seager drove in two runs and scored twice and Kendrys Morales recorded an RBI for the Mariners, who moved 1 1/2 games clear of Detroit for the second American League wild card. Hisashi Iwakuma lasted only 2 1/3 innings and was reached for five runs but six relievers combined to finish it out - with Dominic Leone (7-2) grabbing the win and Fernando Rodney escaping a bases-loaded jam to pick up his 38th save.

Will Middlebrooks drove in three runs and Yoenis Cespedes singled in a run among three hits and scored twice for the Red Sox, who have dropped eight straight games and went 2-9 on the 11-game homestand. Allen Webster (3-2) was knocked around for six runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings to absorb the loss.

Seattle jumped on top with three runs in the first inning on consecutive RBI singles from Morales, Seager and Morrison but Boston returned the favor in the bottom half on Cespedes’ RBI single and a two-run single to right from Middlebrooks. The Red Sox chased Iwakuma and added two runs in the third for a 5-3 lead.

Chris Denorfia’s sacrifice fly cut the deficit to 5-4 in the fourth and Austin Jackson led off the fifth with a single before scoring easily on Ackley’s triple into the triangle in center field. Brad Miller followed with a sacrifice fly to put Seattle on top for good.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Boston DH David Ortiz left the game in the sixth with a right foot contusion after fouling a ball off himself earlier in the game, and Mariners 2B Robinson Cano had to be helped off the field in the third due to dizziness. Cano will be evaluated by doctors. … The Red Sox recalled RHP Heath Hembree from Triple-A Pawtucket and optioned RHP Brandon Workman. … Boston SS Xander Bogaerts, who was removed from Friday’s game after getting hit in the head with a pitch, missed his second straight game and is undergoing more tests for a possible concussion.
