Angels 4, Red Sox 3: Chris Iannetta's second double of the game drove in the tiebreaking run with two outs in the top of the ninth as visiting Los Angeles made it two straight wins over Boston.

Iannetta followed Brennan Boesch's two-out double with one of his own off closer Koji Uehara (5-3) that barely eluded the leap of left fielder Daniel Nava as the Angels won for the sixth time in seven games. Albert Pujols had two hits and an RBI while Mike Trout and Kole Calhoun each had run-scoring hits in a three-run third as Los Angeles remain a half-game in front of Oakland atop the American League West.

Joe Smith (5-1) earned the victory with an inning of scoreless relief before Huston Street got the final three outs in the ninth to register his 34th save. David Ortiz homered among two hits while Brock Holt and Mike Napoli each drove in runs for the Red Sox, who fell to 3-9 in their last 12 at home.

After Ortiz staked the Red Sox to a 1-0 lead with his 29th homer in the first, Calhoun stole the show with a spectacular leaping catch against the bullpen to rob Holt of a three-run homer in the bottom of the second. Calhoun followed with an RBI single in the Angels' next at-bat before scoring on a booming triple by Trout, who came home on Pujols' infield single to give Los Angeles a 3-1 lead.

Napoli's RBI groundout in the fifth pulled the Red Sox within a run before they chased Los Angeles starter Jered Weaver in the sixth and tied it when Holt greeted reliever Jason Grilli with a sacrifice fly to center. Weaver allowed three runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings while Boston's Allen Webster permitted the same totals over six frames.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ortiz moved past Adam Dunn into sole possession of 35th place on the all-time list with his 460th home run while Holt (0-for-3) had his hitting streak snapped at a career-best 12 games. ... Slumping Angels LF Josh Hamilton returned to the lineup after a two-game absence and went 0-for-3, dropping him to 5-for-41 in his last 11 games. ... Red Sox 3B Will Middlebrooks, who made a sensational play on a smash by Pujols that was ruled a hit following a video review, exited in the bottom of the fourth with tightness in his right hamstring.
