Red Sox 2, Twins 1 (10): David Ortiz and Mike Napoli hit back-to-back homers in the 10th inning to stun visiting Minnesota and earn a sweep of the three-game series.

Chris Parmelee homered in the top of the 10th off Koji Uehara (2-1) to provide the game’s first run but Boston, which managed one hit through the first nine frames, came back in the bottom half. Casey Fien (3-4) came on for the save with closer Glen Perkins (back) unavailable and retired the first batter before Ortiz wrapped the tying blast around the pole in right and Napoli followed with a shot to straightaway center for the win.

Kyle Gibson started for the Twins and kept the Red Sox off the board but was matched by Boston starter John Lackey, who pitched the first nine innings. Parmelee recorded two of the three singles the Twins managed against Lackey before driving a hanging splitter from Uehara into the bullpen in right-center to give Minnesota a short-lived lead.

Gibson retired the first 14 batters he faced before Daniel Nava drove a ground-rule double into the bullpen in right. The right-hander stranded Nava at second and erased errors in the sixth and seventh by inducing inning-ending grounders to cap off a seven-frame stint in which he did not walk a batter and struck out eight.

Lackey was just as dominant, striking out nine and walking one while scattering three singles. The Boston offense has not managed more than two runs in any of the last five games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Major League Baseball upheld the six-game suspension of Red Sox RHP Brandon Workman, who began serving it on Wednesday. … Ortiz has recorded five of his 16 home runs in six games against the Twins this season. … Boston begins a 10-game road trip at Oakland on Thursday while Minnesota returns home to host the Chicago White Sox.
