Rangers 10, Red Sox 7: Robinson Chirinos homered and was one of four players to drive in two runs as Texas outlasted host Boston.

Prince Fielder drove in two and scored two while Donnie Murphy and Adrian Beltre each added two RBIs in support of Martin Perez (1-0), who allowed four runs in 6 1/3 innings. Shin-Soo Choo doubled and scored twice as the Rangers evened the three-game set.

Felix Doubront (1-1) was lit up for five runs on six hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings for the Red Sox, who dropped to 1-4 at home. Mike Napoli, Grady Sizemore and A.J. Pierzynski each had three hits for Boston and David Ortiz doubled in two runs in the ninth.

Doubront cruised through the first two innings but surrendered a mammoth solo blast to Chirinos leading off the third and began to unravel, allowing four consecutive two-out hits and a pair of walks before being lifted. Fielder and Murphy each doubled in a run and Chirinos’ bases-loaded walk capped the five-run outburst.

Burke Badenhop was not much better in relief and walked Choo leading off the fourth before Elvis Andrus singled, Fielder delivered an RBI single, Beltre doubled in a run and Murphy added a sacrifice fly to make it 8-0. The Red Sox put the lead runner on in each of the first seven innings but were hurt by grounding into five double plays before breaking through with two runs in the seventh.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Beltre went 2-for-3 while serving as the DH before leaving in the sixth with a tight left quad muscle. … Boston INF Ryan Roberts made his first start for the team at third base after signing Monday and went 0-for-2 with two walks. … Red Sox LHP Craig Breslow (shoulder) is expected to be activated before Wednesday’s series finale.
