Orioles 2, Mariners 1 (10): Chris Davis led off the 10th inning with the decisive blast and All-Star Nelson Cruz also homered as visiting Baltimore defeated Seattle for the second straight night.

Davis drilled a 1-2 pitch from Charlie Furbush (1-5) well over the right-field fence to help the Orioles maintain their three-game lead over the New York Yankees in the American League East. Darren O’Day (3-1) struck out both batters he faced in the ninth and Zach Britton retired the side in order in the 10th to record his 19th save.

Seattle ace Felix Hernandez was saddled with his ninth no-decision of the season, giving up one run and five hits with 10 strikeouts over seven innings. The performance allowed Hernandez to tie Tom Seaver (1971) for the major-league record of 13 consecutive starts of pitching at least seven innings and giving up two or fewer earned runs.

Cruz lined a leadoff homer in the second – his 29th of the season – for the lone run against Hernandez. Robinson Cano tripled off the glove of Baltimore's Nick Markakis in the sixth and then narrowly beat the right fielder's throw home on Kendrys Morales' game-tying sacrifice fly.

Cano was ruled safe when Britton threw wildly to first with two outs in the 10th, but Baltimore challenged the call and it was reversed when replays showed Davis had his foot tip-toeing the bag as the Mariners suffered their fourth straight loss. Orioles starter Kevin Gausman matched Hernandez with a solid effort, allowing one run and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cruz has hit 21 career homers against the Mariners, including five off Hernandez. … Seattle optioned 1B-DH Jesus Montero to Triple-A Tacoma to open a roster spot for Morales, who was acquired from the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. … Baltimore 3B Manny Machado (back) sat out for the fourth consecutive game.
