Blue Jays 5, Orioles 2: Dioner Navarro went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to help visiting Toronto defeat Baltimore to gain a split of the four-game series.
Jose Bautista, Melky Cabrera and Steve Tolleson also drove in runs for the Blue Jays, who had six doubles among 12 hits. Edwin Encarnacion went 3-for-5 and scored twice and Bautista, Anthony Gose and Jose Reyes had two hits apiece.
J.A. Happ (6-3) allowed one run and seven hits and struck out six in six innings. Casey Janssen recorded the final four outs for his 12th save.
Bautista stroked a run-scoring double off Chris Tillman (5-4) in the first and Navarro delivered an RBI single in the fourth. Cabrera’s sacrifice fly to left made it 3-0 in the fifth before Baltimore got on the board in the sixth when Adam Jones hit a two-out double and scored on a single by Nelson Cruz, who went 3-for-3 with a walk.
Navarro’s double to right in the eighth increased Toronto’s lead to 4-1 and Tolleson’s fielder’s choice plated another run. Jones drilled a two-out homer in the bottom of the eighth before Janssen closed the door.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Baltimore 1B Chris Davis was given the day off. … Toronto DH/1B Adam Lind (foot) sat out after leaving Saturday’s game. … Tillman allowed three runs and eight hits in seven innings.
