Orioles 4, Red Sox 0: Bud Norris dominated through eight innings and the Baltimore offense produced three home runs to take the series opener from visiting Boston.

Nick Markakis delivered a two-run blast and Adam Jones and Ryan Flaherty each added a solo home run for the Orioles, who had dropped three of four entering the series. Norris (5-5) retired 13 in a row at one point and scattered three hits and three walks while striking out six before Tommy Hunter took care of the ninth.

Jake Peavy (1-4) surrendered all three Baltimore homers and was charged with four runs on eight hits in seven frames as the Red Sox fell for the sixth time in seven games. Daniel Nava and David Ross each doubled and Brock Holt singled for Boston.

Holt led off the game with a single but was caught stealing and the Red Sox did not have another baserunner until Nava doubled with two outs in the fifth. Baltimore got on the board in the first when Jones took a 1-0 slider out to center for his 10th home run.

Markakis came up with Flaherty on base in the fifth and gave Norris more cushion by belting a 2-1 curveball out of the yard in right. Flaherty’s shot to right-center in the seventh capped the scoring.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Markakis has hit safely in 14 straight games and has seven RBIs in the last six contests. … Red Sox RHP Clay Buchholz (knee), who came through a simulated game with no issues on Sunday, will make a rehab start at Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday. … Boston SS Stephen Drew sat with tightness in his right oblique.
