Orioles 8, Indians 4: Chris Davis homered, doubled and drove in four runs as host Baltimore snapped Cleveland's four-game winning streak.
Nelson Cruz clubbed a solo homer, Nick Markakis had four hits, and Adam Jones added three hits and scored three times as the Orioles put up at least six runs and 12 hits for the fifth straight game. Bud Norris (3-4) won for the first time in four starts, giving up four runs on six hits over six innings to help Baltimore end a five-game home slide.
Jason Giambi swatted a three-run homer and Lonnie Chisenhall doubled twice and drove in a run for the Indians, who were coming off consecutive 13-inning victories. T.J. House (0-1), making his first career start, was knocked around for five runs on 11 hits over six innings,
Cruz opened the scoring with his 15th homer in the second to tie Jose Abreu for the major-league lead before Davis doubled in a pair of runs in the third for a 3-0 lead. The Indians surged ahead in the fourth on Chisenhall's RBI double and Giambi's opposite-field thee-run shot, but Davis belted his seventh homer in the fifth with Jones aboard to reclaim the lead for Baltimore at 5-4.
The Orioles padded the lead with three runs in the seventh as Jones, who had three hits for the second straight night to extend his streak of reaching base to 17 straight games, doubled off reliever Mark Lowe and scored on Lowe's throwing error. J.J. Hardy's groundout plated another run before Delmon Young delivered an RBI double to make it 8-4.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Markakis went 4-for-5 to surpass Paul Blair (1,426) for eighth place on the franchise career list with 1,429 hits. ... Giambi became the 36th player in history to homer in 20 straight seasons and moved ahead of Andre Dawson into sole possession of 21st place on the all-time list with his 439th blast. ... Orioles 3B Manny Machado was not in the lineup after exiting Thursday's contest due to groin stiffness. ... Indians SS Asdrubal Cabrera, who had an MRI exam Friday, and 1B Nick Swisher each sat out with sore knees.
