Pirates 9, Orioles 8: Starling Marte and Ike Davis each had three hits and two RBIs and Pittsburgh's bullpen cooled off visiting Baltimore's bats as the Pirates salvaged the fourth and final game of the season series.

Andrew McCutchen added three hits, an RBI and two runs scored for the Pirates, who snapped a six-game losing streak against Baltimore. Nelson Cruz went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs to lead the Orioles, who have scored six or more runs in a season-best three straight games but have lost two of them.

Neither starter made it out of the second inning — Pittsburgh's Wandy Rodriguez was tagged for six runs (one earned) before leaving with two outs in the second and Baltimore's Chris Tillman gave up eight runs (six earned) and didn't record an out in the second. Both bullpens kept their teams in it, but Tony Sanchez's RBI single off Ryan Webb (2-1) in the seventh plated the eventual winning run.

The Pirates plated four runs in each of the first two innings only to be upstaged by Baltimore's six-run second. Cruz led off the big inning with his 14th home run and added two more RBIs on a double off the bag at third.

The Orioles tied it in the seventh when J.J. Hardy and former Pirate Steve Pearce each had RBI singles, but Pittsburgh made Bryan Morris (4-0) a winner with its rally in the bottom of the frame. Marte beat out a bunt single, moved to third on Davis' single to left and scored on Sanchez's hit through the right side of the infield, and Mark Melancon breezed through a perfect ninth for his seventh save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Baltimore CF Adam Jones went 0-for-4, snapping his major league-best 14-game hitting streak. … Cruz has 43 home runs and 120 RBIs in his last 162 games dating to Sept. 24, 2012. … McCutchen is 18-for-36 in 10 career games against Baltimore.
