Diamondbacks 5, Tigers 4: Miguel Montero delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth inning as Arizona stormed back to deny visiting Detroit.

The Tigers, who took the lead in the top of the frame, struggled with their control in the eighth as Phil Coke (1-2) walked two batters and Al Alburquerque loaded the bases with another free pass. Ian Krol came on and missed his spot badly with an 0-2 fastball that Montero sent back up the middle to plate Ender Inciarte and David Peralta.

Eury De La Rosa (2-0), who recorded the final two outs of the eighth, notched the win in relief while Addison Reed settled things down with a scoreless ninth for his 24th save. Aaron Hill homered and drove in three runs while Peralta tripled twice and scored three times for the Diamondbacks, who have won five of their last six at home.

Brad Ziegler came on in the eighth for Arizona and loaded the bases with one out in front of Torii Hunter, who sent a single back up the middle to plate All-Star Miguel Cabrera and Don Kelly for a 4-3 lead. The bullpen breakdown voided what would have been a major league-leading 13th win for Rick Porcello, who allowed three runs in seven innings.

Hill’s solo blast in the bottom of the first tied it and the teams traded runs again in the third. The Diamondbacks took their first lead in the sixth, when Peralta raced for a triple before coming home on Hill’s groundout.
