Giants 6, Diamondbacks 4: Hunter Pence homered and Tyler Colvin drove in three runs as visiting San Francisco edged Arizona to avoid its first seven-game losing streak in nearly four years.

Pablo Sandoval added three hits and two RBIs for the Giants, who collected 12 hits in winning for just the second time in their last 11 games. Ryan Vogelsong (5-3) allowed four runs over five innings and three relievers bridged the gap to Sergio Romo, who worked around two hits in the ninth for his 21st save and first since June 8.

Sandoval drove in a run and Colvin delivered a two-run single in the first inning against Brandon McCarthy (1-10), who yielded five runs on 10 hits over five frames and remained winless in his last nine starts. Aaron Hill recorded two hits and two RBIs for the second straight game, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Diamondbacks’ fourth loss in 11 contests.

Arizona cut the deficit to 4-2 in the second on RBI doubles by Miguel Montero and David Peralta before the Giants answered in the fifth as Brandon Crawford belted a leadoff triple and scored on Colvin’s groundout. Crawford has a team-high six triples for San Francisco, which has won 15 of its last 21 games at Chase Field.

After Hill’s two-run single in the fifth cut the deficit to 5-4 and ended Vogelsong’s evening, Pence crushed a one-out solo homer off Randall Delgado in the sixth that landed in the upper deck in left field. Pence and Buster Posey had two hits apiece for San Francisco, which hasn't lost seven in a row since June 26-July 2, 2010.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Giants optioned OF Juan Perez to Triple-A Fresno and promoted 2B Joe Panik, who made his major-league debut Saturday and walked as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning. … Arizona 1B Paul Goldschmidt, who has 10 career home runs against the Giants, went 0-for-1 and drew three walks. … San Francisco RF Michael Morse left the game in the fifth inning with back tightness and is listed as day-to-day.
