Brewers 8, Diamondbacks 3: Carlos Gomez reached base five times, homered and finished with three RBIs while Jean Segura and Martin Maldonado also went deep as host Milwaukee cruised past Arizona.

Segura and Maldonado each drove in two runs and combined to score three times for the Brewers, who matched their 2013 win total against the Diamondbacks in their first meeting this season after dropping six of seven against them in 2013. Garza (2-3) improved to 4-1 with a 2.83 ERA in five all-time starts against Arizona, allowing three runs on eight hits and a pair of walks over six innings.

Aaron Hill went 4-for-4 with two run-scoring singles while Gerardo Parra scored twice and recorded the Diamondbacks’ only extra-base hit with a double in the sixth. Mike Bolsinger (1-2) surrendered four runs on seven hits and three walks in five frames.

Parra singled to lead off the game and came around to score on Hill’s two-out hit to right before Gomez jumped all over the first pitch he saw from Bolsinger in the bottom half of the first inning. Maldonado’s two-run blast to left made it 3-1 in the second, but Arizona knotted it up in the third as Miguel Montero and Hill singled home runs during a stretch in which four straight Diamondback hitters reached base.

Milwaukee took the lead back for good in the fifth on Khris Davis’ sacrifice fly and blew the game open with a four-run sixth when Maldonado and pinch hitter Rickie Weeks drew one-out walks off reliever Randall Delgado ahead of Gomez, who plated them both on a single to shallow right. Two pitches later, Segura sent a fastball into the second deck in left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Three of Gomez’s five career leadoff home runs have occurred this season. … Arizona 1B Paul Goldschmidt singled twice in five at-bats and is 13-for-30 during his seven-game hitting streak. … Milwaukee cleanup hitter Aramis Ramirez, who entered Monday in a 1-for-36 slump, went 1-for-4.
