Rays 2, Blue Jays 1 (10): Jose Lobaton belted a one-out solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning as host Tampa Bay edged Toronto for its fourth victory in five games.

Lobaton, who tripled home the winning run in the ninth inning to beat the Blue Jays on Friday, hit a 2-1 fastball from Brad Lincoln (1-2) into the right-field seats two days later. Evan Longoria recorded a double and a solo homer while Yunel Escobar added a pair of hits for the Rays, who moved within one game of first-place Boston in the American League East.

Edwin Encarnacion hammered his 31st home run and hit the very top of the short wall in left field on his two-out double in the ninth for the Blue Jays. Fernando Rodney retired Adam Lind with Encarnacion at third in the ninth and Jake McGee (3-3) pitched a perfect 10th inning to earn the victory.

Longoria gave the Rays a 1-0 lead in the first with his opposite-field blast to right on the second pitch he saw. Tampa Bay starter Chris Archer retired 20 of the first 21 batters he faced before Encarnacion lined a 1-2 slider into the left-field seats to tie the game in the seventh.

The Rays put runners at first and third with none out in the bottom of the seventh, but reliever Brett Cecil came on to keep the game deadlocked with the help of a botched squeeze bunt attempt. Toronto starter Todd Redmond, a St. Petersburg, Fla. native, allowed one run and six hits in six-plus innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Archer, who gave up one run, four hits and did not walk a batter over seven innings, is 4-2 with a 1.81 ERA against AL East opponents this season. … Toronto SS Jose Reyes missed his second straight game with a sore right knee. … The Rays, who are 10-6 against the Blue Jays in 2013, travel to Toronto for three games to end the regular season on Sept. 27-29.
