Giants 13, Padres 5: Pablo Sandoval went 4-for-5 with three homers and a career-high six RBIs and visiting San Francisco set a Petco Park record with six homers to salvage the finale of the three-game series.

Sandoval hit a two-run homer in the fifth, a solo shot in the eighth and a three-run blast in the ninth to join Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun (April 30, 2012) as the lone players to hit three homers in a game in Petco Park’s 10-season history.

Hunter Pence homered and had three RBIs and Brandon Crawford and Hector Sanchez also went deep for the Giants. Ronny Cedeno and Chase Headley hit homers for San Diego.

Tim Lincecum (9-13) allowed five runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings in his first start against the Padres since throwing a no-hitter July 13. Padres starter Eric Stults (8-13) allowed seven runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings while losing his sixth consecutive decision.

The three-homer game was Sandoval’s first in the regular season but he also hit three homers in Game 1 of the 2012 World Series against the Detroit Tigers. Joaquin Arias had three hits and San Francisco racked up 17 overall.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Giants C Buster Posey (finger) sat out after being hit by a foul tip Tuesday. … The six homers allowed are the most the Padres have allowed since moving into Petco Park in 2004. The Atlanta Braves hit five on July 14, 2006, and the Seattle Mariners matched it on May 30 of this season prior to San Francisco’s assault. … The multi-homer game is the sixth of Sandoval’s regular-season career.
