Athletics 5, Rangers 1: Josh Reddick belted a two-run homer and Josh Donaldson and Chris Young also went deep as visiting Oakland strengthened its bid to repeat as American League West champion by completing a three-game sweep of Texas.

Coco Crisp matched Young with two hits and a run scored and Tommy Milone (11-9) tossed five solid innings in a spot start. The Athletics have won 16 of 20 to seize a 6 1/2-game lead over the second-place Rangers with 13 contests remaining. Texas, which has dropped six in a row and 11 of 13, remained even with Tampa Bay for the top wild card spot, one-half game ahead of Cleveland.

Donaldson extended his career-best hitting streak to 11 games in the first inning after depositing an 0-1 curveball from Martin Perez (9-5) over the wall in left field for a solo shot. Donaldson's 23rd homer - and fourth during his hitting streak - gave Oakland a 2-0 advantage.

After Young answered A.J. Pierzynski's RBI single with a solo blast in the third inning, Reddick provided insurance by jumping on a first-pitch fastball from Joakim Soria in the ninth.

With scheduled starter Jarrod Parker scratched due to illness, Milone allowed one run on six hits while striking out five. Four relievers combined to yield four hits in as many scoreless innings to preserve the victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Perez suffered his second loss following a six-start winning streak after permitting three runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings. ... Donaldson, who went 1-for-2, is 18-for-40 with 11 RBIs and 12 runs scored during his hitting streak. ... Oakland begins a seven-game homestand Monday by opening a three-game series versus the Los Angeles Angels. Texas hits the road for a seven-game stint when it begins a four-game series against Tampa Bay.
