Blue Jays 5, Yankees 2: Edwin Encarnacion drove in two runs and R.A. Dickey pitched into the seventh inning as host Toronto snapped a 10-game losing streak against New York.

The Yankees dropped 7 1/2 games behind first-place Boston in the American League East and 4 1.2 games back of Oakland for the second wild-card spot despite Alex Rodriguez’s 650th career home run, which tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth. The loss was New York’s second in 14 games against the Blue Jays this season.

Dickey (10-12) yielded two runs (one earned) over 6 1/3 innings and Casey Janssen worked a perfect ninth for his 24th save for Toronto, which has won two straight following a seven-game losing streak.

The Blue Jays pulled ahead with three runs in the fifth, beginning when Jose Reyes doubled off Phil Hughes (4-13) with one out and scored from third after Ichiro Suzuki misplayed Encarnacion’s fly ball to deep right field. Adam Lind followed with an RBI double and Moises Sierra capped the rally with a sacrifice fly to score Encarnacion.

Derek Jeter was activated from the disabled list for the third time this season prior to the game and went hitless in three at-bats. Hughes surrendered five runs (three earned) on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings and remained winless in his last nine starts.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Yankees LHP David Huff struck out five with one walk in 3 1/3 no-hit innings in relief of Hughes. … Shortstop Ryan Goins had two hits for Toronto, which was swept in four games at the Yankees last week. … Jeter, who appeared in his sixth game this season, is six hits away from tying Eddie Collins (3,314) for ninth place on the all-time list.
