Padres 4, Mets 3: Will Venable hit a walkoff home run in the ninth and drove in two as host San Diego came from behind to steal one from the New York Mets.

Venable led off the inning and reached down for a 1-2 slider from Pedro Feliciano (0-2), hooking it into the stands in right to give the Padres a split of the four-game series. Chris Denorfia drove in the tying run in the eighth with an infield single and Huston Street (1-4) ended up with the win in relief.

Matt Harvey struck out six and allowed two runs on six hits in six innings while Marlon Byrd doubled in a run and scored for the Mets.

Justin Turner tripled and scored on Byrd’s one-out double in the first to give New York an early lead. Byrd led off the fourth with a single and took third on Josh Satin’s hit before coming in on a sacrifice fly from Wilmer Flores to make it 2-0.

San Diego put the first two on in the fifth and moved them up on a sacrifice bunt before Venable chopped an infield single just out of Harvey’s reach to push across a run. Alexi Amarista followed with a sacrifice fly to tie it but Omar Quintanilla delivered a two-out double in the seventh and Andrew Brown followed with a pinch-hit double to put the Mets back on top.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Venable’s 2-for-5 day extended his career-high hitting streak to 15 games. He went 8-for-19 in the four-game series. … Padres starter Eric Stults allowed three runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings and Nick Vincent tossed 1 1/3 perfect frames before handing it off to Street. … San Diego will continue its homestand by hosting the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday while New York will travel to Minnesota for a make-up game.
