Cardinals 2, Mets 1: Adam Wainwright became the first 10-game winner in the majors after tossing seven shutout innings and Matt Carpenter ripped a two-out RBI triple in the third as visiting St. Louis won two of three from New York.

Allen Craig provided what proved to be an important insurance run with an RBI single in the eighth inning. Pete Kozma had three hits and a run scored and former Met Carlos Beltran added a pair of singles to extend his hitting streak to 12 games as the Cardinals improved to 11-0-2 in their last 13 series.

Wainwright (10-3) retired the first 11 batters he faced en route to recording his fifth straight victory. The ace right-hander yielded just four hits - all singles - to snap a personal four-game skid to New York.

Wainwright also helped in his cause as his sacrifice bunt moved Kozma to second base in the third inning. Carpenter followed by depositing a curveball from Matt Harvey (5-1) into right-center field - just out of the grasp of a diving Marlon Byrd.

Trevor Rosenthal allowed David Wright's third single of the day in the eighth inning before bridging the gap to Edward Mujica. The closer worked around Byrd's one-out homer in the ninth and stranded a runner at third base to remain perfect in 19 save opportunities.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Harvey showed no ill effects after exiting his last start versus Miami with tightness in his lower back and hip. The 24-year-old fireballer suffered the hard-luck loss, however, after allowing one run on five hits in seven innings. ... Cardinals C Yadier Molina saw his eight-game hitting streak come to an end after an 0-for-3 performance. ... St. Louis 3B David Freese enjoyed the day off after his 20-game hitting streak came to an end on Wednesday.
