Mets 2, Nationals 0:
Dillon Gee worked 5 2/3 strong innings and batterymate John Buck homered as New York blanked visiting Washington.

Mike Baxter added a sacrifice fly and three relievers bridged the gap to Bobby Parnell, who worked a scoreless ninth for his second save. Gee (1-3) scattered three hits and three walks while striking out six to grab his first win.

Jordan Zimmermann (3-1) allowed two hits but needed 96 pitches to get through five innings while yielding two runs for the Nationals, who finished up their road trip with a 3-3 mark.

Buck led off the second and took a 3-1 fastball from Zimmermann into the second deck in left-center for his seventh home run and National League-leading 22nd RBI. Baxter made it a two-run gap in the fourth with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to deep center.

Washington had its best chance in the sixth when Gee walked the bases loaded with two outs. LaTroy Hawkins came on and struck out Ian Desmond looking to maintain the shutout.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nationals prospect Anthony Rendon made his major-league debut and went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and made an error at third base. … Buck, who has never hit more than 20 home runs in a season, is more than halfway to matching his 2012 total (12). … Rendon was called up after Ryan Zimmerman (strained left hamstring) was placed on the 15-day DL.
