Mariners 3, Angels 2: Justin Smoak belted a two-run homer and six Seattle pitchers combined to strike out 15 batters as the visiting Mariners salvaged the finale of the three-game series.

Oliver Perez (3-3) struck out all three batters he faced in the fifth to notch the victory after starter Felix Hernandez fanned 10 over the first four innings. Rookie Mike Zunino also knocked in a run for the Mariners, who snapped a five-game losing streak against the Angels.

C.J. Wilson (17-7) allowed three runs and eight hits while striking out nine over 8 1/3 innings as both his nine-game winning streak and 13-start unbeaten stretch came to an end. Kole Calhoun hit a solo blast to lead off the eighth inning and bring the Angels within a run, but Danny Farquhar pitched around a one-out single in the ninth to register his 15th save.

Hernandez, returning from an oblique injury, yielded one run on one hit and four walks before leaving after 92 pitches in his first outing since Sept. 2. Zunino’s RBI double in the second gave the Mariners a lead before Howie Kendrick doubled and scored on Efren Navarro’s fielder’s choice in the bottom of the frame.

Smoak belted a 1-2 pitch from Wilson into the left-field seats with two outs in the sixth for his first homer as a right-handed hitter this season and a 3-1 lead. The Angels loaded the bases in the seventh before Yoervis Medina retired Kendrick on a fly ball to right field.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hernandez became the first pitcher in major-league history to strike out 10 in a game in which he did not complete more than four innings. He is 1 2/3 frames shy of his sixth consecutive 200-inning season and has 210 strikeouts. … The Angels still beat Seattle in seven of nine games at home this season. …The game was delayed 23 minutes in the third inning by a swarm of bees in the outfield.
