Brewers 5, Reds 1: Carlos Gomez had three hits and a career high-tying five RBIs to back Kyle Lohse's first complete game in over two years for host Milwaukee.

Lohse (10-9) won for the first time in four starts, giving up one run on four hits as the Brewers beat Cincinnati for the fifth time in the last eight meetings. Lohse retired 23 straight batters before issuing a two-out walk in the ninth in going the distance for the first time since April 21, 2011.

Gomez put the Brewers on the board with a two-run single in the first and added an RBI base hit in the third off Mat Latos for a 3-1 lead. He completed his big night with a two-out, two-run single off J.J. Hoover in the seventh.

Latos (14-6) was charged with five runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings to drop to 2-4 lifetime against Milwaukee. The loss reduced Cincinnati's lead over Washington for the second NL wild card to 4 1/2 games.

The Reds had a chance for a big inning in the second, loading the bases with no outs on three straight singles, but they managed only one run on Devin Mesoraco's groundout. Jean Segura had two hits and scored two runs for Milwaukee.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Lohse's dominant effort was the 10th quality start in 11 games this month for the Brewers. ... Latos was denied a career-high 15th win. He also won 14 games in 2010 and 2012. ... Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez came out of the game with a left wrist contusion when he was hit by a pitch in the first inning. He's listed as day-to-day.
