Reds 11, Marlins 1: Tony Cingrani worked five strong innings in his first major-league start while Todd Frazier homered and scored three times to lead Cincinnati to an easy win over visiting Miami.

Zack Cozart drove in a pair and Shin-Soo Choo added two hits, two runs and an RBI as the Reds won their fourth straight. Cingrani (1-0) struck out eight and allowed one run and five hits.

Rookie Jose Fernandez had allowed one run over 11 innings in his first two career starts but finally ran into some adversity with Cincinnati, which pounded the 20-year-old for five runs and six hits in four innings. Justin Ruggiano hit a solo homer for the Marlins, whose 3-13 record is worst in the majors.

Cincinnati broke things open against Fernandez in a four-run fourth inning. Xavier Paul plated the first run with a single to right and Devin Mesoraco followed with a sacrifice fly before Choo plated Paul with an RBI double and came in on Cozart’s single.

The Reds pushed four more runs across against John Maine in the fifth and Frazier capped the rout with a two-run blast in the sixth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cingrani was taking the rotation spot of Johnny Cueto (back), who was placed on the DL on Monday. Cingrani is the first left-hander to start for the Reds since Dontrelle Willis on Sept. 29, 2011. … Miami slugger Giancarlo Stanton (shoulder) returned after a six-game absence and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a pair of strikeouts. … Four relievers combined to allow one hit while closing it out for the Reds.
