Indians 4, Blue Jays 2: Danny Salazar won his major-league debut with six stellar innings of one-run ball as host Cleveland won the rubber match of the three-game series.

Asdrubal Cabrera homered and Lonnie Chisenhall singled in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning as the Indians won for only the third time in nine games to close within 2 1/2 games of first-place Detroit in the American League Central.

Salazar (1-0) struck out seven with a fastball that was clocked at 99 mph and allowed only two hits. He set down 15 of the first 16 batters he faced and carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Toronto broke up the shutout bid.

Jose Bautista had a two-out RBI double in the top of the sixth inning off Salazar to tie the game at 1-1, but Cleveland answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame off R.A. Dickey (8-10). The knuckleballer struck out seven and was charged with three runs - two earned - on six hits in six innings.

Carlos Santana added insurance for the Indians in the eighth with an RBI triple. Rich Hill and Cody Allen each pitched a scoreless inning but closer Chris Perez allowed a two-out RBI single to Colby Rasmus in the ninth before securing his 11th save as Cleveland sent the Blue Jays to their 11th loss in 17 games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Salazar's seven strikeouts represented the highest total by a Cleveland pitcher in his major-league debut since Luis Tiant fanned 11 in 1964. ... Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said it's unlike the team will be unable to sign RHP Travis Bickford, the No. 10 overall pick in this year's draft, by Friday night's deadline. ... Cleveland will continue its 10-game homestand Friday when Kansas City comes to town for three games while Toronto heads to Baltimore for a three-game series.
