Yankees 4, Indians 3: Mark Teixeira homered for the second night in a row to back six scoreless innings from David Phelps as host New York made it two straight wins over Cleveland.

Teixeira's three-run blast capped a four-run third inning to make a winner of Phelps (4-3), who allowed only an infield single to bounce back from a dreadful start last time out in which he lasted only one-third of an inning.

Drew Stubbs went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer off reliever Joba Chamberlain in the seventh to pull the Indians within a run, but David Robertson worked a scoreless eighth before Mariano Rivera pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for 21st save in 22 chances.

The Yankees opened the third inning with five straight hits off Indians left-hander Scott Kazmir (3-3), including an RBI single from Ichiro Suzuki to break the scoreless deadlock. Teixeira, who swatted a grand slam in Monday's win, clubbed a three-run shot for a 4-0 lead.

Cleveland rallied in the seventh when Stubbs lashed a three-run homer to right-center for his fourth blast, ending a 17-game drought. Kazmir was charged with four runs on seven hits in six innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez, on the disabled list while recovering from hip surgery, is among some 20 players Major League Baseball is preparing to suspend, ESPN's "Outside The Lines" reported Tuesday. Tony Bosch, the founder of the Biogenesis clinic in Miami, reportedly has agreed to cooperate with investigators and will swear to an affidavit that he provided drugs to players. The report said MLB will seek a 100-game suspension against Rodriguez. Yankees C Francisco Cervelli, who is on the DL with a fractured right hand, has also been linked to Biogenesis, while company documents listed Sonia Cruz - the spokeswoman for Yankees 2B Robinson Cano's foundation - as a client. ... The Indians placed SS Asdrubal Cabrera on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained right quadriceps suffered in Monday's game and called up SS Juan Diaz from Triple-A Columbus. ... Suzuki's single was the 2,654th hit of his career, tying him with Ted Williams for 72nd on the career list.
