Cubs 6, Mets 3: David DeJesus hit a three-run triple and Edwin Jackson pitched six solid innings for his second straight win as visiting Chicago won the opener of the three-game set.

Jackson (3-8) got off to a terrible start in his first year with the Cubs but has turned in two straight strong outings after he limited the Mets to one run on five hits while striking out seven. Kevin Gregg pitched a perfect ninth for his eighth save.

Mets starter Shaun Marcum (0-8) was tagged for six runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings, his shortest outing since May 10. Marcum has lost his last three starts and six of his last seven.

Nate Schierholtz homered in the first inning for the Cubs, who have won consecutive games for the first time since a season-high five-game winning streak from May 26-31. Chicago broke it open with four in the second as Darwin Barney singled up the middle to make it 2-0 and DeJesus followed two batters later with a bases-clearing triple off the wall in right-center.

Daniel Murphy had a pair of RBI singles for the Mets, and David Wright added three hits but also was cut down trying to go from first to third on Lucas Duda's RBI single in the seventh. Wright's baserunning mistake was the second out of the inning and helped the Cubs squelch New York's rally.

GAME NOTEBOOK: DeJesus left in the third with an injured right shoulder after crashing into the wall in right-center while chasing Juan Lagares' first career triple. … Schierholtz is riding a seven-game hitting streak and has six extra-base hits in his last five contests. … Wright has reached base in seven consecutive plate appearances with six singles and a walk.
