Braves 6, Phillies 3: Jason Heyward belted a leadoff homer and Chris Johnson drove in three runs as host Atlanta won for the 19th time in its past 23 games.

Heyward’s blast sparked the Braves to five runs in the first two innings. Brandon Beachy (2-0) won his second consecutive start, holding the Phillies to two runs on six hits with no walks in six innings as the Braves maintained a 14-game lead over Washington in the National League East.

Philadelphia starter John Lannan (3-6) surrendered five runs on four hits with three walks in 1 1/3 innings before leaving with a left knee injury. Domonic Brown finished with three hits, including a two-run homer in the sixth, as the Phillies dropped to 5-19 since the All-Star break.

Johnson, who leads the NL in hitting at .337, drove in a run with a first-inning sacrifice fly and delivered a two-run single in the second. Heyward added a double and scored two runs, Justin Upton walked three times and Craig Kimbrel earned his NL-best 38th save.

Brown’s 27th homer of the season, into the right-center field seats in the sixth, brought the Phillies within 5-2. Michael Young added two hits and Darin Ruf hit a solo homer in the ninth off David Carpenter for Philadelphia, which has lost 13 of its past 14 road contests.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rain delayed the start of the contest by 1 hour, 48 minutes, the second time in the series a game started late due to weather. … Atlanta 2B Tyler Pastornicky sprained his left knee after colliding with Heyward on a popup in the third. … Brown improved to 5-for-6 lifetime against Beachy.
